Being bad…

But it feels so good! OK—get your mind out of the gutter. My house is a wreck, I’m hosting Thanksgiving, and what have I done this morning? I made a card! I’ve been wanting to do some of the challenges over on the Gingersnap Creations blog, but haven’t had the time. I needed to sneak something in that was more my “style”—everything I’ve made lately has been so clean and simple!  This card was made for GC31—Monochromatic. It’s not terribly involved, but definitely fits my favorite grungy/shabby style.

Gingersnap_1109_monochromaticI know there’s a bit of glare on this pic, but I decided to leave it since it really shows the shine from the Glimmer Mist. In case you can’t read it, the verse says, “The fragrance always remains in the hand that gives the rose.” Both the verse and the image are from I Brake for Stamps. Lynn featured this new stamp plate on her blog a week or so ago. I can’t do justice to them the way she does, but I can aspire to! The wide, woven ric rac came from the clearance bin at JoAnn’s—don’t you love it?

I’ve also made some progress towards getting the house cleaned up, although I can’t tell by looking around! I wish someone could tell me why I’m such a terrible procrastinator. I’ve had some shelves to put up in my craft area for a couple of months, so when do I decide to put them up? This morning! Like I really need to be doing construction projects less than a week before Thanksgiving!!! Now I just need to collect the stamps, paper, and various other art supplies from throughout the house and get them piled on the new shelves. Organizing it all will come later (much later!!)

I do hope to get some creative stuff done next weekend. For those of you who don’t know me, I have a special needs sister who lives in a group home. I’ll be picking her up Wednesday morning and keeping her for most of the weekend. The only thing she loves to do is watch the Game Show Network from the time she gets up until she goes to bed. She gets mad if you try to watch something else! So, I always try to spoil her when she comes to stay and we watch GSN from morning til night! Needless to say, I’ll be bored to tears, so I’ll drag the craft stuff back out and hopefully make something fun, or at least get started on my Christmas cards!!

So—I need to get back to work. For those of you who celebrate American Thanksgiving, have a safe and happy one!
